Shama Yousaf's Story

Shama Yousaf, 44 years old, was diagnosed with breast cancer approximately 1 year ago. By the time her disease was diagnosed it had metastasized, so her doctors immediately set a treatment plan into action. Shortly after diagnosis, she underwent 8 cycles of chemotherapy over a 7-month duration. When the course finished, she was advised to have a modified radical mastectomy surgery for the removal of her right breast, which contains the tumor.

Shama has been recommended to have this surgery at the earliest to prevent metastasis again, but her financial limitations are getting in the way. Her husband, working as a factory worker, only earns 25,000 PKR/month. After paying their rent, which is 10,000 PKR/month, this couple has barely any resources left to look after their own needs and those of their three teenagers.

Shama Yousaf's Story

Shama Yousaf, 44 years age, was suffering from cancer in her right breast for the last year. She was advised a modified radical mastectomy for her right breast - a procedure in which the entire breast is removed, including most of the axillary lymph nodes Her surgery was done on 02-09-2020 by Dr. Ahmad Fawad at Lahore Care Hospital. She recovered well after the surgery. She remained admitted in the hospital for four days and was discharged in stable a condition. Slowly, Shama is starting to get back to her normal way of living.
