Shumaila Bibi's Story

Shumaila Bibi, age 24 years, got married about 4 years ago and has one elder son of 2 years and a younger 1-year-old daughter. She is now pregnant for the third time. Due to complications during pregnancies, both of her babies were delivered by LS C-sections in local hospitals. During both her previous C-sections, financial help was given by relatives and friends. Now once again, doctors have advised her surgery but this time, she does not have enough resources and her relatives are not in a position to support her anymore.

Shumaila’s husband is a cook in his village. He cooks meals at wedding and funeral events and earns hardly 7000 PKR per month. The family is living in a small house in a joint family system. This house was granted to them by Shumaila’s parents-in-law. With great difficulty, Shumaila’s husband’s income covers the expenditures of his family. Since they cannot afford any added expenses, they visited many hospitals for a free surgical procedure but didn’t get a positive response. At last, they came to know about Transparent Hands and reached out for help with a free surgical procedure.

Shumaila Bibi's Story

Shumaila Bibi, 24 years old, was about to give birth for the 3rd time. She had surgeries done for her previous childbirths as well. She was advised for an elective surgery again this time. Her C-section was done on 07-08-20 at Abid Hospital, Mian Channu by Dr Sadaf Aqeel. She was very pleased to give birth to a baby girl. She stayed in the hospital for two days and was later discharged along with her healthy baby girl.
