Sumaira Parvin's Story

Sumaira Parvin, 34 years old, has been suffering from rectal pain for almost 3 years now. For the past 11 months or so, the pain is also accompanied by bleeding, and recently, she is experiencing discharge from the perianal region as well. She has been diagnosed with a perianal fistula and doctors have advised surgery, a fistulectomy, for permanent relief from her condition.

“It is hard for me to sit anywhere, especially since the pain started. The pain radiates down my legs now. I had stopped going out anywhere long before this quarantine started because I am always so uncomfortable while sitting and am also worried about stains from the constant bleeding.” – Sumaira Parvin

Sumaira lives with her husband and 3 small children in a small house given to them by her parents-in-law in district Jhang. As a stonemason, her husband earns 9000 PKR/month. This is the only source of income for this family. Sumaira Parvin, 34 years old, was suffering from right hypochondriac pain & vomiting. She was diagnosed with hemorrhoids & an anal fistula and was advised surgery to correct this. Her fistulectomy surgery was done in Abid hospital by Dr. Adnan Ahmad Raza, on 02-06-20. She was discharged in a satisfactory condition after 3 days of hospital stay.
