Zahida Babar's Story

23-year old Zahida Babar is a resident of Islamabad and is pregnant with her second kid. She and her husband live in a small rental lodging and have nowhere else to live in the capital. Speaking from a purely financial point of view, Zahida’s family belongs to an underprivileged section of the society. The maximum monthly income hovers around 10,000 PKR/month and that too is courtesy of her husband only. The young lady is 33 weeks pregnant and her baby’s delivery will be via elective LSCS.

When we say an elective LSCS, we mean that the patient already knows about it. Lower segmentation Caesarean section or commonly dubbed as LSCS is the most common type of C-section. In this surgical procedure, an incision is made to minimize blood loss during birthing. A cut is made a little above the urinary bladder’s connection with the uterus. The location of this incision is the lower segment, hence the process is called lower segmentation C-section. The biggest benefit associated with this type of C-section is the quick recovery of the maternal tissues.

Close your eyes for a moment and ask yourself this. Can Zahida manage a costly surgical procedure such as this, all on her own? Her own words reflect the tangle she is caught in:

“From the first moment of this pregnancy, all I have cared about is my baby. I don’t care if anything happens to me. But if my baby faces a life risk because we failed as parents of the unborn child, I will never be able to forgive myself for that. All flames of hope have been extinguished by winds of despair, except one”

She is referring to, of course, Transparent Hands. The organization decided to help Zahida by running a campaign for her. But the campaign needs your donations. So, without any further hesitation, donate for Zahida Babar’s elective LSCS now!
