Zubaida Bibi's Story

A resident of district Okara, Zubaida Bibi’s miserable story has many lessons hidden within it. A year ago, Zubaida Bibi decided to visit the graveyard to remember and bless the departed ones. It was a rainy day, and the 50 years old lady couldn’t keep her balance as she slipped and fell. Unfortunately, Zubaida Bibi’s right arm was fractured as a result of this accident. What followed was a series of more unfortunate events that involved plaster casting and plaster removal mostly. To cut a long, miserable story short, Zubaida Bibi’s arm has not been fixed to this date. She is diagnosed with Non-union of her Rt Humerus.

Before we talk about the surgical treatments which can fix Zubaida’s arm properly, let us acquaint you with Zubaida’s financial status. Well, she is a housewife while her husband works in a hotel as a waiter. Two of her sons are daily wagers. The total family income per month amounts to 15,000 PKR approximately. Now imagine that there is an 11-membered household that survives on this scant amount of wealth. Close your eyes for a moment and honestly answer this. Do you really think Zubaida can afford a surgical procedure? Of course not.

“Open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) can heal broken bones, that’s what my doctors tell me (tells a very enthusiastic Zubaida). However, (and here her smile falters a bit) I don’t have enough money to afford an ORIF or a bone grafting. But I am banking on Transparent Hands to come up with some miracle”

We are trying Zubaida, we are trying. But we need the help of those who are reading these lines. If you have caught the giving bug recently, here is a cause that you can donate to. You know the story, you know the patient but more importantly, you trust the organization. So, what are you waiting for? GO DONATE FOR ZUBAIDA BIBI’S ORIF & BONE GRAFTING NOW!

Zubaida Bibi's Story

Zubaida Bibi, 58 years old, fell on a slippery road and fractured her arm bone (Humerus), one year ago. She was treated with a plaster cast but that later resulted in non-union of her fracture which means that the fractured bone in her right arm did not heal properly. For correction of this condition, she was advised an internal fixation with intramedullary nail along with bone grafting. She was admitted in Akram Medical Complex and the procedure was performed by Dr. Abdul Latif Shahid on 15.10.2020. Zubaida stayed in the hospital for two days and was discharged in a stable condition. The doctor has fixed her fractured bone and she is advised rest so that the bone can heal.

“The broken bone in my arm caused a lot of pain. I could not sleep on the right side, neither could I put any pressure on it. My right arm was practically non-functional. I really needed a doctor to help me with my situation and I am so grateful to have been provided this support by the Transparent Hands team.”- Zubaida Bibi
