Zumaran Bibi's Story

48-years-of-age, Zumaran Bibi was enjoying a blissful life with her husband and children until she fell ill and became bedridden. She is suffering from an enlarged uterus and fibroids in cervical region. She was diagnosed with this disease a while ago. The doctor has advised her to undergo a total abdominal hysterectomy, but her family cannot afford expensive treatment costs.

Zumaram Bibi going through severe pain in her abdomen along with heavy menstrual bleeding which makes her bed bound most of the days. She is not even able to perform her daily household chores. The doctor has advised her to get surgery as soon as possible otherwise her health can further deteriorate resulting in further loss of blood.

She is now living in her brother in laws house with her husband and eight children. Her brother-in-law works as a farmer earning only 10,000 PKR a month. His income is not sufficient to take care of the needs of his brother’s family as well as his own family.

Zumaran Bibi wants to work and earn for her children but due to her painful condition, she is restricted to bed most of the time. She is a patient of uterine fibroids. She experiences heavy menstrual bleeding which lasts longer than usual along with nausea and vomiting. Due to not getting timely treatment, her condition has worsened.

Zumaran Bibi broke down in tears when she was asked about her husband:

“My husband has been sick and bedridden for many years. I have worked all my life to provide the best education for my children but now I feel helpless as I fight for my own life. My disease is progressing and only a surgical procedure can help me.” Zumaran Bibi

She has visited several doctors but they all of them recommended her to undergo total abdominal hysterectomy (a surgical procedure to remove the uterus through an incision in the lower abdomen) for which she needs our help.
