Zarwa is a 1.3 years old child who was suffering from Intestinal Obstruction since birth. This is a medical condition where the newborn has blocked intestine. Her abdomen was swollen on 2^nd day of her birth. She was taken to a tertiary care hospital for emergency surgery. Her Laparotomy with Ileostomy was done on the 5^th day after her birth and a stoma was made on her abdomen for temporary relief.

Zarwa’s father is a salesman at a general store and earns only 7000 PKR per month. They are living in a small house made of mud in the middle of a field in Arifwala and don’t even have facilities like electricity, water and gas. Within his meager income, he is managing his household expenses and fulfilling the basic necessities of his wife and two children. He is also taking care of his old mother and a mentally retarded sister.

In these circumstances, it is almost impossible for this poor father to pay for her daughter’s surgery. Her parents are disturbed and worried about her health and future growth. When Zarwa’s father came to know about Transparent Hands through a doctor, he immediately brought her here without wasting any time.

Zarwa Hussain's Story

Zarwa Hussain 1 ½ years old baby girl had her Ileostomy made in emergency surgery when she was only 5 days old for intestinal obstruction due to Hirschsprung’s disease. She was advised surgery to remove her affected large intestine through Duhamel pull-through surgery. Her surgery was done in Akram Medical Complex on 27-07-19 by Dr. Naveed Haider. She stayed for 7 days in hospital and recovered well. She was discharged in good condition.
