Kausar Bibi, a 30-year-old woman from Lahore, has been experiencing a health condition for the past two years. A noticeable lump developed at the front of her neck, which she initially tried to manage with symptomatic treatment. Instead of improving, the lump continued to increase in size, causing her growing discomfort and distress.

Recently, Kausar began experiencing more troubling symptoms. Swallowing food has become increasingly difficult, making mealtimes stressful and painful. Alarmed by her worsening condition, she received medical advice. After thorough evaluation and testing, the doctor diagnosed her with Multinodular Goiter (MNG) — a condition where multiple nodules grow within the thyroid gland, causing visible swelling. To prevent further complications, her doctor has recommended a subtotal thyroidectomy. However, her family can’t afford the surgery

If left untreated, Kausar’s condition can become worse. It may obstruct her airway, cause difficulty in breathing and swallowing, and may lead to cancer.

Kausar’s husband runs a small fruit stall in a local market, earning approximately PKR 30,000 per month. With seven children to care for, every rupee goes towards covering basic household expenses, including utility bills and food expenses. It’s extremely challenging for her husband to cover the living expenses of eight family members. Due to their financial constraints, saving for an expensive surgery is impossible for Kausar’s family.
