Rani Anees, a 38-year-old woman from Karachi, has been suffering from constant pain in her upper right abdomen for the past two months. The recommended treatment for this condition is laparoscopic cholecystectomy, a surgery that will relieve her pain and prevent future complications. Alongside this discomfort, she frequently suffered from nausea and found it nearly impossible to tolerate fatty foods, making everyday life a struggle. Rani visited a nearby hospital and consulted a doctor. After a thorough medical evaluation, including ultrasound imaging and lab investigations, she was diagnosed with Cholelithiasis. The doctor explained that to eliminate her pain and prevent further complications, she needed a laparoscopic cholecystectomy. However, the surgical cost was overwhelming for her family.
Rani lived in a small rented home with her husband and three children. Her husband works as a laborer and earns just PKR 25,000 a month.
