Hafsa Rani's Story

Hafsa Rani, a three-year-old resident of Bahawalpur, has been facing the challenges of sensorineural hearing loss since birth. Concerned about their daughter’s condition, her parents took her to the nearest hospital, and after undergoing several tests, the doctor recommended her cochlear implant surgery.

Hafsa and her family reside in a 5-marla house, alongside her parents and one sibling. Her father serves as the sole breadwinner, earning a monthly income of 48,000 PKR. With this limited income, Hafsa’s father shoulders the responsibility of meeting the family’s daily expenses, grocery bills, and utility bills. Sadly, due to an ongoing financial crisis, he finds himself unable to afford the necessary surgical expenses for Hafsa’s cochlear implant.

Concerned for their daughter's well-being, Hafsa's parents sought medical help and received the news that cochlear implant surgery was the recommended solution. However, their hopes were lost by an ongoing financial crisis that prevented them from affording the necessary surgical expenses.

Thankfully, Transparent Hands, stepped in to help. Recognising the urgency of Hafsa's situation, we registered her case and began the process of seeking support from compassionate donors. With their assistance, Hafsa's journey toward hearing restoration began.

Hafsa was admitted to Evercare Hospital in Lahore, where skilled surgeon Dr. Imran Saeed performed the life-changing cochlear implant surgery. On February 28, 2024, the internal component of the implant was successfully installed, marking a pivotal moment in Hafsa's life. Just four days later, she was discharged from the hospital, her heart filled with renewed hope and the promise of a brighter future.

In just six weeks, Hafsa made significant progress in her journey towards hearing restoration. The external component of her cochlear implant was successfully installed, opening doors to a world of sound. With the guidance of dedicated therapists, she attended transformative speech therapy sessions. This period brought renewed hope and remarkable improvement in word acquisition for Hafsa.
