Empower Khurshid with Knee Replacement Surgery

Khurshid Begum's Story
Khurshid Begum, a 54-year-old widow from Muzaffarabad, has been experiencing pain and swelling in her knees for several years. What began as mild discomfort eventually progressed to intense, persistent pain that now affects her ability to stand, walk, or even move without support. Worried by her worsening condition, Khurshid and her family visited a local hospital. After thorough clinical examinations and diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed her with Osteoarthritis in both knees. This degenerative joint condition is causing the cartilage in her knees to wear away. The doctor has advised Total Knee Replacement (TKR) of the left knee first to help restore function and relieve her of the constant pain.
Without surgery, Khurshid’s condition will continue to deteriorate. She may face increased joint deformity, risk of falling, and complete loss of independence.
However, Khurshid and her family are unable to afford the cost of this crucial surgery. She lives with her four children in a modest home. Her son works as a chef and earns only PKR 25,000 per month. Khurshid’s son is the sole breadwinner and supports his mother and four siblings. They live a very modest life and struggle to cover monthly expenses, which include PKR 400 for utility bills and PKR 3,000 for educational expenses. With their limited income, affording the cost of knee replacement surgery is impossible for them. They found Transparent Hands and asked for help. Khurshid shared her heartfelt plea as follows:
“This constant pain has taken away my independence. I can’t walk properly. I rely on my children for everything. I don’t want to be a burden on them.”
Khurshid is turning to you as her last hope. Only you can help Khurshid reclaim her mobility and dignity. Donate generously and empower her with the surgery.
