Muaz Asghar's Story

Muaz Asghar, a 25-year-old man from Kasur, is experiencing severe pain in his left hip. This condition has limited his ability to carry out even the simplest daily activities, including walking. His condition has progressed to the point where he cannot sit or walk without support, robbing him of both his physical freedom and emotional well-being. After months of increasing discomfort and reduced mobility, Muaz consulted a specialist, who conducted thorough evaluation including X-rays. The doctor diagnosed him with a fixed flexion contracture of the left hip due to ankylosing spondylitis. To treat this condition, the doctor has advised Left Total Hip Replacement (THR) surgery. However, the cost of this surgery is far beyond what Muaz and his family can manage. This surgery is essential for him to regain function, avoid further joint damage, and improve his quality of life. If left untreated, Muaz’s condition will continue to deteriorate. It may lead to permanent joint stiffness, worsening pain, and complete loss of mobility.

His father runs a small kiryana (grocery) shop and earns only PKR 25,000 per month. His income is barely enough to support their large family of seven. With regular expenses like utility bills amounting to PKR 2500 and the educational expenses of Muaz’s five siblings, saving up for the operation is impossible for them.
