Saba Siddique's Story

Saba Siddique, a 38-year-old woman from Lahore, has been experiencing severe upper abdominal pain for two years. She previously underwent a cholecystectomy in May 2024. Unfortunately, her symptoms persisted, and she continued to experience discomfort. Saba went to a nearby hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing an ultrasound scan and some lab tests, the doctor diagnosed her with choledocholithiasis. It refers to the presence of stones in the common bile duct. In September 2024, her ERCP was done through Transparent Hands to relieve obstruction in CBD, and a stent was placed. On a recent follow-up visit, her doctor advised ERCP with sphincteroplasty to remove the stone. However, the cost of the procedure is beyond her family’s financial means.

Saba’s quality of life has been severely impacted by her illness. Each day, she feels emotionally and physically drained, making it difficult for her to perform even the most basic tasks. Not undergoing ERCP with sphincteroplasty can increase risks such as jaundice and cholangitis.

Saba lives in a one-room brick house with her husband and one child. Her husband, the sole breadwinner in the family, is a tailor and makes just PKR 25,000 per month. They are surviving in extreme poverty and hardly manage to cover utility bills and food expenses. There is a significant obstacle in Saba’s way towards recovery –  her financial constraints.  Her husband works to the point of exhaustion but his income barely fulfills their basic needs. With hope in her heart, Saba once again reached out to Transparent Hands and asked for assistance. Saba said with teary eyes:

“It’s hard for me to spend my life with this illness. This pain is intense and I can’t bear it anymore. We don’t have enough money to pay for the medical expenses.  I request you to please help me. Your support can change everything.”

Saba’s recovery depends on this procedure and we need your support in improving her quality of life. Saba is counting on your kindness. Your donations will allow her to get rid of her abdominal pain and live a healthy life. Together, we can make this necessary procedure accessible to her. Open your hearts and contribute to change Saba’s life.

Saba Siddique's Story

Saba Siddique, a 38-year-old woman from Lahore, had been struggling with severe upper abdominal pain for the past two years. In May 2024, she underwent a cholecystectomy but her discomfort persisted. Concerned about her ongoing symptoms, she visited a nearby hospital for a consultation. After conducting an ultrasound scan and lab tests, the doctor diagnosed Saba with choledocholithiasis. In September 2024, her ERCP was done through Transparent Hands to relieve obstruction in CBD, and a stent was placed. On her follow-up visit, her doctor advised ERCP with sphincteroplasty to remove the stone. However, the cost of the procedure was out of her financial capacity.

Saba lived in a small one-room brick house with her husband and a young child. Her husband worked as a tailor, earning just PKR 25,000 per month. Their limited income barely covered their essential expenses, including food and utility bills. It left them with no savings to afford the costly medical procedure. Their financial constraints placed immense stress on the family, and Saba feared she would never recover. In search of hope, she reached out to Transparent Hands for support. Understanding her critical condition, we quickly registered her case and arranged for her procedure.

On January 27, 2025, she was admitted to Lahore Care Hospital, Lahore. Her ERCP with sphincteroplasty was successfully performed by Dr. Saleem. The procedure effectively removed the stone, restoring her health and alleviating her pain. After a smooth recovery, she was discharged in stable condition on January 29, 2025.

Feeling immense relief, Saba expressed her gratitude as follows:

"I had lost hope of ever finding relief from my pain. Through your kindness and support, I can finally live without discomfort. I can’t describe my happiness in words. I am immensely grateful for this life-changing help."

With her health restored, Saba can now focus on her family and daily life without the burden of constant pain. Her family extends their deepest gratitude to you for making her recovery possible.
