Fizza Awaits Cochlear Implant Surgery

Due to her hearing loss, Fizza has lived a life of isolation in a world full of silence. The absence of sound has left her longing for connection and struggling to find her place in society. Sadly, her family’s financial situation prevents them from being able to pay for the surgery that could help her hear again. Four-year-old Fizza, a resident of Rawalpindi, has been suffering from congenital sensorineural hearing loss. Her parents realized she was not responding to their voices at the age of one, and they were concerned. Her parents took her to the local hospital, where her tests were done. Upon consultation, she was diagnosed with sensorineural hearing loss. The doctor advised her to undergo cochlear implant surgery. 

She lives in a rented house with her parents. Her father is the only breadwinner in the family and earns PKR 20,000 per month. Her father’s financial position won’t allow him to pay for the surgical expenses. He said it in a despairing tone.
