Kaneez Bibi, a 23-year-old mother from Multan, is eagerly awaiting the birth of her third child. However, her joy is tempered by the financial challenges her family faces. With two previous C-sections, Kaneez’s gynecologist has advised her to undergo another cesarean to ensure a safe delivery.
Kaneez’s husband works as a laborer, earning a modest monthly income of PKR 20,000. This barely covers their basic needs, including utility bills of PKR 2,500 and repayments towards a PKR 60,000 loan. Their family, including their son and daughter, is entirely dependent on this limited income.
Faced with the daunting cost of the C-section surgery, Kaneez is overwhelmed with worry. She knows that the procedure is medically necessary, but the financial burden is too great for her family to bear. Kaneez’s heart is filled with both anticipation for her newborn and apprehension about how she will manage the expenses.

Kaneez Bibi's Story
Kaneez Bibi, a 23-year-old woman from Multan, was awaiting the arrival of her fourth child. With a history of two C-section surgeries, Kaneez knew the risks involved. She consulted a gynecologist about her pregnancy, who, after a thorough examination, found that it was a high-risk pregnancy with complications. Therefore, the doctor recommended another C-section for the safe delivery of her baby. However, affording the cost of the surgery was challenging for Kaneez’s family.
Kaneez lives in a two-room brick house with her husband and two children. Her husband works as a daily wage laborer and makes PKR 20,000 monthly. The family was facing financial hardships and there was no room left for savings to pay for this crucial medical procedure. The safety of her baby was a constant source of anxiety for Kaneez. It was during this time of despair that Kaneez learned about Transparent Hands. She contacted us and asked for help.
The day of hope arrived. On 13th June 2024, Kaneez was admitted to Bakhtawar Amin Memorial Hospital. The C-section procedure was successfully performed by Dr. Hina Zahra on 14th June 2024. Kaneez’s baby boy was brought into the world safely. Her heart filled with joy and relief. She was hospitalized for four days. During her stay, she received critical post-operative care and was happily discharged on 16th June 2024.
