Noor Zaman, a 53-year-old resident of Charsadda, KPK, has been suffering from severe pain and swelling in his legs for five years. Upon consultation, the doctor gave him an anti-inflammatory medicine. However, the pain and swelling in his legs increased with time. His son took him to the local hospital. The doctor evaluated him, ran some diagnostic tests, and diagnosed him with Avascular Necrosis of the left femoral neck. It is the death of bone tissue due to a loss of blood supply. It mostly affects the femur bone, and if it goes untreated, it may collapse the joint. The doctor advised total hip replacement surgery on the left side. It is a surgical procedure in which the damaged bone and cartilage are removed and replaced with prosthetic components. The surgery will help Noor walk without pain.

He lives with his wife and five children in a rented house. His son is the family’s sole earner and earns only PKR 15,000 per month. With this meager income, his son cannot pay for his father’s hip replacement surgery. Due to these financial constraints, Noor is losing hope day by day. He said in a depressed tone:

He was admitted to Akbar Medical Complex, where his operation was performed by Dr.Khurram on 22-10-2022.
