Uzma Shaheen, a 31-year-old resident of Karachi, is seven months pregnant. Considering her medical records and current situation, the gynecologist has advised her to undergo a Lower Segment C-section to deliver her baby; a surgical incision (cut) is made in the lower segment of the uterus to deliver a baby. Uzma and her baby would remain at risk without the C-Section.
Uzma and her husband live in a rented house. The monthly income of her husband, which is only PKR 20,000, barely covers their household expenses. Unfortunately, they cannot afford the necessary surgery, jeopardizing the health of both mother and child.
