Four-year-old Amal Noor, a resident of Sheikhupura, has been facing the challenges of hearing impairment since birth. When she reached her first year, her parents noticed something amiss—she did not respond to their voices, causing deep concern. Following a series of tests and consultations, the heartbreaking diagnosis came forth: Amal was suffering from sensorineural hearing loss, an obstacle preventing her from experiencing the world of sound. The doctor advised her to undergo cochlear implant surgery which involves a small electronic device that stimulates the cochlear nerve, allowing her to perceive sounds.

She lives with her parents and two siblings. Her father has a private job and earns PKR 30,000 per month. He is struggling to make ends meet. It is not possible for him to pay for the surgery with his limited income. He said it in a depressed tone.
