Khalida Bibi's Story

Khalida, a 3-year-old girl from Tharparkar, has been facing the challenge of hearing loss since birth. When her parents noticed this condition, they took her to the nearest hospital for a comprehensive medical evaluation.

After undergoing a series of diagnostic tests, the doctor confirmed that Khalida was suffering from sensorineural hearing loss and recommended a cochlear implant surgery as the most viable solution to restore her hearing. With the help of this advanced technology, Khalida will have the opportunity to experience the world of sound and unlock new possibilities for her personal and intellectual development.

Khalida lives in her own house, surrounded by her parents and two siblings. Her father is the sole breadwinner of the family, but with a limited monthly income of PKR 30,000, he struggles to meet the basic needs of his household. After accounting for the utility bills of PKR 2,000, the family’s financial resources are stretched thin, leaving them unable to afford the cost of Khalida’s much-needed cochlear implant surgery.

Khalida’s mother expressed her deep concern, saying, “Khalida is such a vibrant and curious child who deserves the chance to hear and experience the world around her. We want her to have the same opportunities as other children to learn, play, and grow. However, our financial constraints have become a significant barrier in pursuing this life-changing treatment for our daughter.”

Upon learning about Khalida’s story, the team at Transparent Hands reached out to provide support. Now, they are seeking a small donation from compassionate individuals to make Khalida’s cochlear implant surgery a reality. By supporting Khalida’s treatment, you can transform her life and open up a world of possibilities for her to thrive and reach her full potential.

Khalida’s journey to hear the world is one filled with hope and resilience. With your help, she can overcome the obstacle of hearing loss and embark on a path of endless opportunities.

Khalida Bibi's Story

Khalida, a 3-year-old resident of Tharparkar Sindh, had been suffering from hearing loss since birth. Her parents learned about her condition when she was one year old. Determined to find a solution, her parents consulted a nearby doctor. On examination, Khalida was diagnosed with congenital sensorineural hearing loss. After a comprehensive evaluation, her doctor recommended cochlear implant surgery to help her develop the ability to hear.

Khalida’s parents were devastated to see their daughter struggling to hear and experience the world around her. The cost of the required surgery was overwhelming for Khalida’s father, as he is the sole breadwinner of the family. After struggling for a while, her family contacted Transparent Hands.

We registered her case and raised funds for her life-altering cochlear implant surgery with your support. On 7th June 2024, Khalida was successfully admitted to GIMS Hospital in Gambat. Dr Maqbool Ahmad successfully installed the internal component of her cochlear implant on 8th June 2024. The surgery was a remarkable success and opened a new world of sounds. Khalida and her family celebrated her discharge from the hospital on 9th June 2024.

Six weeks after the surgery, Khalida achieved another milestone as the external component of the Cochlear Implant was successfully installed. With attentive care and a brief period of recovery, Khalida’s condition improved significantly. She looks forward to communicating like other kids after completing her speech therapy sessions.

Khalida’s father expressed his gratitude as follows: “We are happy to see our daughter enjoying the world of sounds. All this wasn’t possible without the help of Transparent Hands and the endless support from all donors.”
