Malaika Hanif's Story

Malaika Hanif, a 23-year-old resident of Lahore, has been fighting a lifelong battle against a complex congenital heart condition. Born with shortness of breath and chest pain, Malaika’s family learned of her condition at a young age. In March 2014, she underwent her first open-heart surgery, a total correction for Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), in the hope of providing her a future free from the constraints of her ailing heart.

The debilitating symptoms have resurfaced, and a recent evaluation by her cardiologist has revealed the development of severe Tricuspid Regurgitation and Pulmonary Valve Regurgitation. Once again, Malaika’s very existence hangs in the balance, as her doctor has advised her to undergo a critical Redo-Open Heart Surgery for Tricuspid Valve Repair or Replacement.

Malaika said in despair:

“I have never known a day without the constant struggle for breath and the pain that grips my chest. The first surgery gave me a glimpse of hope, but now the darkness has crept back in. I fear for my future, for my dreams of a normal life. But I refuse to give up, for I know that with the right support, I can overcome this battle and reclaim my rightful place in the world.”

Malaika’s family, already burdened by financial constraints, faces an overwhelming challenge in securing the funds needed for this life-saving surgery. Her father, a retired individual, and her two brothers, who work as daily wage laborers, collectively earn a modest monthly income of PKR 70,000. This meager sum barely covers the family’s basic expenses, including a monthly rent of PKR 20,000 for their rented home, educational fees of PKR 10,000, and essential utility bills of PKR 4,000.

With your compassionate support, we can ensure that Malaika receives the lifesaving treatment she requires and empower her to reclaim her rightful place in the world, free from the shackles of her heart condition. Together, we can give Malaika a second chance at a full and rewarding life.
