Noor Hassan's Story

Noor Hassan hasn’t been able to support his family and it really breaks his heart. Noor, a 66-year-old resident of Shergarh, KPK, has been praying for a donor like you to get back on his feet. He has been enduring knee joint pain for the last fifteen years of his life. He had been given symptomatic treatment, but it never worked for him and his condition only worsened. Upon consulting an Orthopedician and after going through a number of diagnostic tests, he was diagnosed with Bilateral Osteoarthritis (OA) of the knees. Knee OA is the result of articular cartilage degeneration without any known reason. This is typically thought of as degeneration due to age as well as wear and tear. After the diagnosis, Noor was advised to undergo a Total Knee Replacement surgery for his right knee first as it was more affected. Total Knee Replacement surgery (TKR) is a complex procedure in which effective joint surfaces are replaced with artificial joints.

“This pain has limited my life and confined me to this house. Some days when the pain is bearable, I do as much as I can. Other days, I just sadly see my son struggling to bear the expenses of the family.”

Noor’s son is a salesman and his income is merely enough to pay the bills. He hardly earns enough to feed his family and cannot afford this costly procedure for his father.

Noor Hassan, a 66-year-old resident of Shergarh, had been enduring pain in both of his knees for the last 15 years. He had been given symptomatic treatment but his condition did not get better. Upon consultation, he was diagnosed with Bilateral Osteoarthritis of the knees. The doctor advised him to undergo Total Knee Replacement for both knees one after another. Noor Hassan was sent to Northwest General Hospital and Research Center for his right Total Knee Replacement by Dr. Khushnood Ali Baz on 03-02-2022. He stayed in the hospital for four days and was discharged in a stable condition. Noor Hassan can walk without pain again.
