Nooran Bibi Bibi's Story

Nooran Bibi, a 67-year-old resident of Lahore, has been bravely fighting breast cancer for the past 1.5 years. It all began when she discovered a lump in her left breast and sought medical attention from a compassionate doctor. After a thorough evaluation, Nooran was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer, which required immediate intervention. In October 2022, she underwent a successful lumpectomy, which removed the cancerous tumor from her breast. However, her journey to reclaim complete health is not over yet.

Following her surgery, Nooran’s oncologist reviewed her final reports and recommended chemotherapy as the next step in her treatment plan. Nooran underwent chemotherapy sessions to combat the cancer cells that might still be lingering within her body. Additionally, due to being HER2 positive, her doctor prescribed a series of 18 Herceptin injections to specifically target and neutralize the HER2 protein, which contributes to the growth of certain breast cancers. Nooran has already received 12 of these injections, with six more remaining to complete her prescribed course of treatment.

Nooran’s determination to defeat cancer has been unwavering, but she faces a significant challenge—her inability to afford the medical management required to continue her treatment. She said with teary eyes:

Nooran Bibi, a 67-year-old woman from Lahore, was battling with a lump in her left breast for 1.5 years. She was hoping for improvement after taking some medications. Unfortunately, her lump continued to grow and brought her extreme pain. Upon consultation from an oncologist, she was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. Her doctor recommended surgery, to remove the lump from her breast. In October 2022, she finally underwent lumpectomy.

However, her journey to reclaim complete health was not over yet. The oncologist recommended chemotherapy as the subsequent step in her fight against breast cancer. Furthermore, she was HER2 positive. Due to this, her doctor prescribed a series of 18 Herceptin injections. Nooran had already received 12 of these injections on her own and she needed 6 more injections. The cost of these Herceptin injections was overwhelming for Nooran Bibi. We swiftly registered her case and went the extra mile to support her. From 31st October 2023 to 11 December 2023, she underwent a series of Chemotherapy sessions at INMOL Cancer Hospital Lahore. The dedicated medical team at INMOL Hospital played a crucial role in guiding Nooran through the rigorous treatment process.

She had a good recovery after the chemotherapy sessions and is healing gradually. Now, she needs regular follow-ups for her well-being.
