Help Noreen Regain Mobility
Noreen Arshad's Story
Noreen Arshad, a 51-year-old resident of Sheikhupura, has endured numerous challenges due to her battle with diabetes. A year ago, she faced a life-altering amputation of her right leg as a result of complications stemming from her condition. Noreen’s resilience and determination have been unwavering, but she now finds herself in need of a right below-knee prosthesis to regain her mobility and independence.
Living in a small two-marla house with just one room in a village near Sheikhupura, Noreen shares her home with her loving husband and five children. Financially, the family heavily relies on her son, who works as a daily wager and earns a monthly income of PKR 35,000. However, a significant portion of this income is allocated towards essential expenses such as utility bills amounting to PKR 2,000, school fees totaling PKR 800, and the daily cost of living. Unfortunately, Noreen’s son is unable to afford the expenses associated with acquiring an artificial leg, leaving the family in a difficult situation.
Noreen’s determination to regain her mobility and independence is nothing short of inspiring. She firmly believes that with the support of compassionate individuals, she can overcome her current predicament and embrace a brighter future.
Noreen appeals for funds from generous hearts echoes her resilience:
“I may have lost a leg, but I refuse to let it define me. With your support, I can walk again, not just physically but also towards a future filled with possibilities.
Realizing the urgent need for assistance, Noreen’s family reached out to Transparent Hands, and we have been a beacon of hope for countless individuals, empowering them to overcome their physical limitations and resume their lives with renewed vigor. Noreen Arshad's Story
Noreen Arshad, a 51-year-old resident of Sheikhupura, had a life-altering incident when her diabetes led to the amputation of her right leg. The loss of her leg not only gave her physical discomfort but also emotional challenges. Her mobility and independence were impaired. She became dependent on her family for simple daily chores.
Noreen was once a pillar of her family, cooking food for her children and managing household tasks. She consulted with an orthopedic surgeon about her condition who recommended a below-knee prosthesis to regain her independence and walk again.
However, there was a significant barrier on her path to recovery - financial constraints. Nooren’s husband and sons are daily wage laborers. Despite their efforts, the family’s income was barely enough to cover the necessities. Affording the cost of the prosthesis was overwhelming for them.
In this time of hardship, Transparent Hands stepped in to help Noreen. Our donors joined hands to provide the required funds for her artificial limb. On 15-06-2024, the day of hope arrived. Under the supervision of Dr. Khalid Niaz, Noreen’s Prosthesis was fitted at Hope Rehabilitation Centre. The day Noreen received a prosthesis was a turning point in her life. Her eyes were filled with tears of joy and gratitude when she took her first steps with a prosthesis.
Noreen exclaimed with happiness:
“I can’t believe I am walking again. Now I can live an independent life without any hindrances. I extend my sincere gratitude to all donors. I am thankful for your generosity.”
The prosthesis has alleviated Noreen helplessness and her fear of being a burden on her family. The donors’ response was heartwarming and we successfully helped her get a prosthesis. The Prosthesis not only restored her mobility but also boosted her confidence.
