Safia Begum's Story

Before we introduce you to the gory details of Safia Begum’s ailments, we want to tell you that only your financial support can help Safia Begum walk again. Please donate generously. Safia Begum is a 65 years old widow who has been suffering from diabetes for the last 15 years. At first, five months ago, she felt a slight pain and swelling in her right leg. Later, the doctors diagnosed it as a severe diabetic infection. Due to the severity of the condition, the only option left was amputating the leg from her body.

Now, the doctor has told her that an artificial limb will help Safia Begum walk again. Safia Begum has visited several local hospitals to seek a prosthetic leg. But unfortunately, all her efforts went in vain.

Safia Begum’s troubles do not end here. Her husband passed away a few years ago. Since then, she has been financially dependent on her sons. Her eldest son is paralyzed as well. Therefore, the burden of earning bread befalls the meek shoulders of her youngest son. He is the sole earner of the family. His measly income is barely enough to cover the household expenses. He cannot bear the financial distress of his mother’s treatment at a private hospital. Therefore, we urge you to please donate and help Safia Begum walk again.

“Every day it pains me to see my son go to work without any breakfast. It makes me question what kind of a mother I am to let my son leave home with an empty stomach? I cannot even get up from the bed. Please help me get an artificial leg. You are my only hope.” -Safia Begum.

With a lot of hope, Safia Begum has registered her case with Transparent Hands. We are determined to help Safia Begum walk again. Now, all we need is your help. Click the ‘Donate Now’ button and donate as much as you can.

Safia Begum's Story

More than five months ago, Safia Bibi, aged 65, a resident of Sheikhupura suffered from a right diabetic foot. Her infection became severe and she was advised to undergo a life saving right below knee amputation. After recovery from her surgery she was in need of a prosthetic leg for mobility. For this purpose she was sent to Hope Rehabilitation Centre where she received her new prosthetic leg after consultation by Dr. Khalid Niazi on 02.03.2021. She is looking forward to adjusting to her new leg after which she will gradually learn to walk independently.
