Samina Bibi's Story

Samina Bibi, a resilient 43-year-old resident of Multan, has been battling with a debilitating condition that has robbed her of clear sight. Diagnosed with a cataract in her right eye, Samina’s world has gradually faded into a blur, leaving her struggling to navigate through everyday life. However, a glimmer of hope shines through in the form of a recommended treatment: a right IOL (intraocular lens) that can restore her vision. Unfortunately, financial constraints have placed this life-changing opportunity beyond her reach.

Samina’s vision impairment has plunged her into a world of difficulty and challenges. The simple tasks she once took for granted have become arduous, and her quality of life has been severely impacted. Recognizing the urgency of her condition, her doctor recommended the right IOL to alleviate her shortsightedness and improve her overall visual health. Two years ago, she experienced the first signs of cataracts, which progressively worsened, necessitating the need for surgery to restore her sight.

In the face of financial adversity, Samina finds herself in a difficult predicament. She is married but is not living with her husband, residing instead in her parents’ house with her sister-in-law. To make ends meet, Samina and her sister-in-law work diligently as tailors, earning a modest monthly income of 10,000 PKR. With no children and no other sources of income, their financial resources are meager, making it impossible for Samina to afford the surgical expenses that could change her life.

Samina and her sister-in-law live in a small house in Multan, facing the hardships of life with resilience and determination. The burden of utility bills, amounting to 500 PKR, adds to their already challenging circumstances. Samina’s greatest desire is to regain her sight, not only to improve her well-being but also to continue her work as a tailor, which is vital for their survival.

She said with teary eyes:

“Please help me regain my sight and transform my life.”

Samina Bibi's Story

Samina Bibi, a resilient 43-year-old from Multan, had been battling a debilitating condition that robbed her of clear sight. Diagnosed with a cataract in her right eye, her world had gradually faded into a blur, leaving her struggling to navigate everyday life. However, a glimmer of hope emerged in the form of a recommended treatment: a right Phaco + IOL (intraocular lens) that could restore her vision. Sadly, financial constraints placed this life-changing opportunity beyond her reach.

Recognizing the urgency, Samina's doctor recommended the right Phaco and IOL to alleviate her shortsightedness and improve her visual health. Two years ago, she had experienced the first signs of cataracts, which progressively worsened, necessitating the need for surgery to restore her sight.

Faced with financial adversity, Samina found it impossible to afford the surgical expenses that could change her life. Seeking assistance, she contacted Transparent Hands, a charitable organization. With the help of generous donors, Samina was admitted to Bakhtawar Amin Memorial Teaching Hospital in Multan. On April 24, 2024, Dr. Asif Hassan Raza, a skilled ophthalmologist, successfully performed the surgery.

Overwhelmed with gratitude, Samina Bibi expressed her heartfelt thanks to the donors of Transparent Hands. Their selfless contributions played a vital role in her journey to regain her vision. Their generosity not only enabled the necessary medical procedure but also relieved the financial burden associated with quality eye care. Thanks to their kindness and support, what could have been a challenging time for Samina became a moment of clarity and renewed hope.

The successful surgery enabled Samina Bibi to resume her work as a tailor, her sole source of income. With her restored vision, she could now continue supporting herself independently. The life-changing procedure not only improved her quality of life but also secured her financial stability, instilling a renewed sense of hope and self-reliance.
