Afia Bibi's Story
It is absolutely heartbreaking to see a child suffering from an illness at such a young age. Please know that even your smallest contribution will help Afia live a healthy life. We urge you to donate and help save Afia’s heart
Afia, a one-and-a-half-year-old resident of Laiyyah, has been suffering from a congenital heart disease. She has been experiencing symptoms such as shortness of breath, high grade fever and weakness since birth. Afia’s parents noticed her pattern of falling sick for no apparent reason. Upon consultation, she was advised by the doctor to undergo a number of diagnostic tests to determine her illness. Afia’s reports revealed that she is suffering from Tetralogy of Fallot. Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) is a group of four congenital heart defects. This means that the child is born with them. The goal of this surgery is to correct the defects so the heart can work as normally as possible. Fixing the defects can greatly improve a child’s health and quality of life.
Afia’s father is the imam of a local mosque and earns just PKR 15,000 per month. In these gloomy times and with a meager income for a family of seven, it is impossible for Afia’s parents to afford the hefty cost of this procedure. Afia’s sorrowed mother expressed her feelings in the following words:
“Please help us and save my sweet little child. I see her smile and get teary because she isn’t even aware of what she is suffering from. She deserves to live a healthy and normal life like all the children her age.”
Transparent Hands has registered Afia’s case. We are determined to help her. But, this will not be possible without your generous support. Hence, we request you to kindly contribute generously and help save Afia’s heart.
