Shazia Gull's Story

Before you proceed to read Shazia Gull’s story, we want to remind you that you can make a difference. Your donation, however small it may be, will help us restore Shazia’s vision. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Shazia’s cataract surgery.

Nine months ago, Shazia Gull’s vision started to get blurry. She suffered from pain and discomfort in both of her eyes. At first, she did not pay much attention to it. But, eventually, the pain and discomfort became evident through her runny eyes. All the home remedies failed, and nothing was able to help. As her condition worsened, Shazia Gull consulted a doctor.

After a thorough check-up, the doctor diagnosed Shazia with developmental Cataract in his right eye. A Cataract is an opacification of the lens of the eye, which leads to a decrease in vision. To restore Shazia’s vision, the doctor has advised her to undergo a right Phaco IOL surgery as soon as possible. Phacoemulsification, or phaco, is a method of cataract surgery in which the defected lens is replaced with an artificial lens. However, unfortunately, Shazia cannot afford the hefty cost of the surgery. Shazia and her husband had a separation five years ago. Now, Shazia lives with her mother and is financially dependent on relatives. Therefore, she is in no position to arrange for her surgery. She told us:

“At first, I did not pay much attention to runny eyes. I thought it was an allergic reaction. But, soon, the pain became unbearable, and I started to lose my sight. I was so hopeless. But now, I finally saw a glimmer of hope.”

With the help of her cousin, Shazia Gull has registered her case with Transparent Hands. We have assured her that we would try our best to help her. Please donate for Shazia Gull’s cataract surgery. Your donations will help us restore Shazia’s vision.
