Irza Needs Your Help to Recognize Sounds and Speak
Irza Shahid's Story
Meet Irza Shahid, a 1.5-year-old girl from Okara, who has never known the joy of sounds. Concerned about her lack of response to noises, her parents received medical advice. After undergoing a series of diagnostic tests, the doctor confirmed that she had congenital sensorineural hearing loss and advised cochlear implant surgery. With the support of Transparent Hands, Irza underwent surgery in November 2024. The surgery helped her hear sounds, but Irza cannot understand and recognize them yet. She cannot distinguish voices, words, or emotions. To help her make sense of the sounds around her and develop speech, the doctor has strongly recommended speech therapy. Unfortunately, her family can’t afford the treatment.
Without speech therapy, Irza’s progress will be delayed. She may struggle to recognize words, communicate her thoughts, and form connections with those around her. Her parents fear that without proper intervention, she may never be able to express herself like other children.
Irza lives in a modest house with her parents. Her father, a police constable, is the family’s only breadwinner, earning just PKR 55,000 per month. He works hard to provide for his family, but his income just covers their household expenses, leaving no room for costly therapy sessions.
Irza’s parents said in despair:
“We are grateful that Irza can hear now. However, without speech therapy, she will not be able to understand or communicate. We dream of the day when she will be able to talk with us and share her thoughts. Please help our little girl in receiving speech therapy sessions.”
Transparent Hands has registered Irza’s case and we need your contributions to give Irza a future filled with opportunities. Your generosity can provide her with the much-needed speech therapy sessions for one year. It will enable her to speak, learn, and connect with the world around her.
Donate now to help Irza take her first step towards a life filled with words, laughter, and limitless possibilities.

You Empowered Deserving Children with Speech Therapy
19 Mar 2026
For children, saying their first word is one of the most joyful experiences. However, for those born with hearing impairments, even hearing sounds around them is a struggle. These children find it challenging to express their thoughts, emotions, and basic needs, which can lead to frustration, isolation at an early age, and missed development milestones.
Recently, Transparent Hands started providing speech therapy to deserving patients who were unable to speak. These patients had already undergone cochlear implant surgeries through the support of Transparent Hands. While these surgeries enabled them to hear sounds for the first time in their lives, hearing alone does not immediately enable children to understand language and recognize sounds. After cochlear implant surgery, children must learn to recognize and interpret sounds they have never experienced before.
Therefore, their doctors recommended speech therapy. However, these patients belonged to low-income families and couldn’t afford speech therapy sessions. Due to their financial hardships, they reached out to Transparent Hands and asked for help. Your support made it possible for Transparent Hands to provide speech therapy sessions to these children at the Society for Audiological & Developmental Ailments (SADA) Foundation in Lahore.
Speech therapists worked closely with them through structured exercises and interactive learning sessions. These sessions are helping the children gradually recognize sounds, pronounce words, and communicate with confidence. Some children have already started recognizing familiar voices and responding to simple words. They are still receiving therapy sessions, which improve their communication and quality of life. Here are the details of the children who have received speech therapy through your generous support so far:
