Muhammad Rafi's Story

Muhammad Rafi, a 34-year-old man from Lahore, has been living with progressive hearing loss for the past eight years following an accident. Over time, his hearing has continued to deteriorate, making it increasingly difficult for him to communicate, perform his duties at work, and interact with his family. Concerned about his condition, he underwent medical evaluation, where the doctor assessed his hearing and diagnosed him with bilateral hearing loss. To improve his ability to hear, the doctor has recommended a hearing aid. Unfortunately, the cost of the hearing aid is beyond his financial means. Without timely intervention, Muhammad Rafi’s hearing may continue to decline, making daily conversations even more difficult. Untreated hearing loss can lead to social isolation, communication barriers, reduced work performance, and a significant decline in quality of life.

Muhammad Rafi works as a laboratory attendant at a university and is the sole earning member of his family. He earns just PKR 45,000 per month, which is used to support his wife and two young children. A significant portion of his income goes towards his children’s educational expenses of PKR 5000 and household utility bills of PKR 2000, leaving very little to manage other essential needs. Due to their financial hardships, affording the hearing aid is beyond his family’s capacity.

Muhammad Rafi shared his heartfelt plea as follows:

“Losing my hearing has changed every part of my life. I struggle to communicate with the people around me. I work hard to provide for my wife and children, but my income is only enough to meet our daily needs. Kindly help me receive this much-needed hearing aid.”
