Kaleem Abbas's Story

Kaleem awaits ASD Closure. Kaleem Abbas, aged six, a resident of Chinoot has been suffering from repeated episodes of chest infections since birth. He has also been experiencing dyspnea on mild exertion. When the symptoms persisted, Kaleem’s parents took him to the hospital. Upon thorough investigations, he was found to have atrial septal defect (ASD). ASD is a hole in the heart that allows blood to pass from the left to the right side of the heart.

To correct these defects, the doctor has advised Device Occlusion of ASD to Kaleem Abbas. In this surgery, Atrial septal occlusion device, which is an implantable cardiac device, is going to be used for the ASD closure. This procedure is the only option for Kaleem Abbas’s cure. But unfortunately, it is not an accessible one.

As Kaleem awaits ASD Closure, his parents are failing to afford the cost of the surgery. His father is a daily wage worker and hardly earns PKR 8000 per month. He told us:

“I have five children. Each one holds a special place in my heart. My son needs life-saving surgery, but we do not have the money to arrange one. I hardly earn 8,000 rupees per month. Sometimes I even come home empty handed. We live in a rented house. I have to look after seven dependents. Even if I save for a lifetime, I won’t be able to raise enough money for my son. The very thought of losing him horrifies me. ”

Kaleem awaits ASD closure, but now that Kaleem and his family have been connected with Transparent Hands. We hope to arrange a free surgery for him. Please generously donate for Kaleem’s ASD closure and help him lead a normal life.

Kaleem Abbas's Story

Six-year-old Kaleem Abbas, a resident of Chiniot, was suffering from high fever, repeated chest infections, and dyspnea on mild exertion. His parents took him to the hospital. After getting his Echo test results, the doctors diagnosed him with an atrial septal defect (ASD). ASD is a hole in the wall between the two upper chambers of the heart. The cardiologist advised ASD closure by device occlusion. For this purpose, Kaleem Abbas was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital and his procedure was performed by Dr. Masood Sadiq on 03.03.2022. Kaleem was discharged in a stable condition a day after his procedure. Watch Full Story!
