Shaukat Ali's Story

Shaukat Ali, a 57-year-old man from Lahore, has been battling with persistent pain and swelling around his umbilicus. What started as mild discomfort gradually turned into sharp pain, especially when lifting heavy objects or standing for long periods. Concerned about his deteriorating condition, Shaukat visited a local hospital for a check-up. After conducting a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed him with a Paraumbilical Hernia, a condition where abdominal tissues protrude through a weak spot near the navel.  To prevent further damage and provide lasting relief, his doctor advised hernioplasty. However, the cost of the surgery is overwhelming for him

Without surgery, Shaukat’s condition may worsen, restricting his ability to work and support his family. It may lead to serious complications such as a strangulated hernia, where the blood supply to the intestine is cut off. This may cause life-threatening damage to his intestines, requiring emergency surgery.

Shaukat lives in a modest home in Lahore with his wife and three children. As the sole breadwinner, he earns around PKR 30,000 per month by selling fruits.
