Let’s Change Awais’s Future with Eye Surgery

Muhammad Awais's Story
Muhammad Awais, a 9-year-old boy from Bhakkar, has been struggling with blurry vision and eyesight issues ever since he experienced trauma to his right eye. With time, it has now developed into a more serious condition that affects his daily life and learning. His vision has deteriorated so much that he can no longer participate fully in school or play like other children. Recently, his parents took him to a local hospital. After undergoing a medical examination, Awais was diagnosed with Aphakia in the right eye. It is a condition where the eye’s natural lens is lost, often as a result of trauma. The doctor recommended Secondary Intraocular Lens (IOL) implantation with Scleral Fixation to restore his vision. If his condition is left untreated, it may result in permanent vision loss due to high eye pressure or damage to the retina. However, the cost of the treatment is beyond his family’s means.
Awais comes from a humble family of nine, including six siblings. His father, the only breadwinner, works as a laborer and earns just PKR 20,000 per month. With utility bills of PKR 1,500 and educational expenses of PKR 5,000, the family’s financial situation is already stretched thin. The cost of the surgery is far beyond what they can afford. During this challenging time, they have turned to Transparent Hands and asked for help.
Awais’s father said with a heavy heart:
“I feel helpless watching my son struggle to see. He’s so young, but this condition is badly affecting his life. I want to get him treated, but I simply can’t afford it. I ask you to be generous and kindly contribute for my son’s surgery.”
With your support, he can undergo the much-needed sight-restoring surgery. Let’s stand with Awais and ensure that financial hardships do not steal his chance to have a healthy and happy childhood.
