Shehnaz Bibi's Story

Shehnaz Bibi, a 37-year-old woman from Narowal, has been living with discomfort for the past three years. It all began with a lump on the front of her neck, which gradually grew in size. Along with the visible swelling, she started experiencing symptoms of thyrotoxicosis. Shehnaz has been on medication since then, and thankfully, her thyroid levels are now under control. However, the lump hasn’t gone away.

Recently, she visited a local hospital for a thorough check-up. After careful evaluation, the doctor diagnosed her with Multinodular Goitre. It is a condition where multiple nodules develop in the thyroid gland, causing noticeable neck swelling and potential complications. To avoid further health risks and give her long-term relief, the doctor has advised Subtotal Thyroidectomy.

Shehnaz’s illness will worsen over time. If left untreated, it may obstruct her airway, cause difficulty in breathing and swallowing, and it may lead to cancer.

Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is far beyond Shehnaz’s financial reach. Her husband works as a daily wage laborer, and their son works at a chicken shop. Together, they earn just PKR 20,000 per month. With utility bills amounting to PKR 4,000 and educational expenses of PKR 1,500, this family struggles every month just to survive. They live in a tent and often have to choose between food and other basic needs. During this time of hardship, Shehnaz has turned to Transparent Hands with hope. She shared her heartfelt plea with us as follows:

“This lump on my neck has made life so difficult. I fear what might happen if I don’t get treated. We’ve tried everything, but we simply can’t afford the surgery. I ask you to support my surgery.”

Shehnaz is desperate for relief, and your support can make all the difference. By donating to her surgery, you can give her a pain-free life.
