Let’s Correct Ghulam Nabi’s Heart Defects

Ghulam Nabi's Story
Ghulam Nabi, a 5-year-old boy from Sargodha, has been experiencing breathlessness and chest discomfort since birth. His body struggles to keep up with any mild to moderate physical activity. While playing with his friends, his skin and lips often turn blue. Recently, his parents took him to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After a detailed medical evaluation, the doctor diagnosed Ghulam Nabi with Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) and Mild Right Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction (RVOTO). These congenital heart defects prevent his heart from pumping blood efficiently, depriving his body of the oxygen it needs. The doctor has recommended VSD closure and RVOT resection. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is beyond his family’s reach.
If Ghulam Nabi does not receive this surgery, his condition will only worsen over time. His heart will have to work harder to pump blood, increasing the risk of heart failure. He may also develop severe complications like abnormal heart rhythms, and delayed physical growth.
Ghulam Nabi lives in a modest home with his parents and three siblings. His father works as a laborer and earns PKR 25,000 per month. With six family members to support, managing daily expenses is already a struggle. They pay PKR 3000 for utility bills and PKR 6000 for their children’s education. They are surviving in extreme poverty and their financial situation is stretched thin. Ghulam Nabi’s life-saving surgery is expensive and they simply can’t afford to pay for the surgery. During this time of need, Ghulam Nabi reached out to Transparent Hands and asked for help.
His parents said in despair:
“Our son’s condition is getting worse, and we feel helpless. We work hard every day, but we cannot afford this surgery. All we want is for our son to have a healthy future. Please help us.”
Ghulam Nabi’s life is in your hands. With your generous support, we can give him the much-needed treatment to grow up healthy and strong. Kindly donate and give him the chance to live without pain.

Ghulam Nabi's Story
Ghulam Nabi, a 6-year-old boy from Sargodha, had faced serious health struggles since birth. Even mild to moderate activity left him exhausted, and his tiny chest struggled to draw in air. While playing with his friends, his skin and lips turned a frightening shade of blue. Worried, Ghulam Nabi’s parents took him to a local hospital. After conducting a thorough examination and necessary diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed Ghulam Nabi with Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) along with Mild Right Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction (RVOTO). These are congenital heart defects that prevent his heart from pumping oxygen-rich blood efficiently.
The doctor advised Ghulam Nabi to undergo VSD closure and RVOT resection to correct these defects. However, the cost of this essential surgery was far beyond his family’s financial means. Ghulam Nabi’s father works as a laborer and earns only PKR 25,000 per month. With six family members relying on this modest income, managing day-to-day expenses is already a struggle. It leaves nothing to save for such an expensive procedure. With hope in their hearts, Ghulam Nabi’s family reached out to Transparent Hands for help. Moved by their plea, we registered his case. The generosity of our donors enabled us to provide Ghulam Nabi with much-needed cardiac surgery.
On June 15, 2025, Ghulam Nabi was admitted to the University of Lahore Teaching Hospital. His surgery was scheduled for June 17, 2025. Dr. Salman Shah successfully performed his surgery and corrected the defects in his heart. After receiving post-operative care, he was discharged in good health on June 20, 2025.
Ghulam Nabi’s parents expressed their happiness as follows:
“Your support has given my son a healthy future. We couldn’t have managed this surgery without your support. He can now laugh, play, and breathe like other children of his age. Thanks a lot for being there for us.”
Now, Ghulam Nabi is on his way to regaining strength, with bright days ahead. Your donations have not only cured his heart issues but have also filled his family’s lives with hope and relief.
His family is immensely thankful to you for saving Ghulam Nabi’s life.
