Let’s Heal Romaisa Hassan’s Little Heart
Romaisa Hassan's Story
Romaisa Hassan, a 1-year-old girl from Dera Ghazi Khan, has been experiencing shortness of breath and chest discomfort since birth. She is also unable to gain a healthy weight. She is experiencing delays in her physical milestones due to reduced energy levels and increased fatigue during activities. Concerned about her condition, Romaisa’s parents consulted a doctor. After running some diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed her with Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) and Right Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction (RVOTO). Ventricular Septal Defect is an abnormal opening in the wall dividing the heart’s lower chambers.
The doctor recommended open-heart surgery for total correction – the best solution to treat her deteriorating health condition. However, her family cannot afford to pay for her costly heart surgery. Romaisa faces struggles each day of her life. Her parents are heartbroken to see Romaisa in this condition and her future is at stake. She may face difficulty in pursuing her studies. Moreover, if her heart issue persists, the condition may potentially cause death.
She lives in a two-room brick house with her five family members. Her family’s monthly income is just PKR 30,000. Her father is a student and her grandfather is the only member of the family who earns a living as a daily wager. With this meager monthly income, managing the utility bills, groceries, and daily living expenses is challenging for them. The cost of this essential cardiac surgery is simply beyond their financial means.
In this time of difficulty, her family reached out to Transparent Hands to register her case.
Romaisa’s parents said with grief:
“Romaisa is an innocent child and we are heartbroken when we see her struggle. We want to give her a bright future where she can thrive and grow like other children, but our financial constraints stop us from doing so. We humbly request all donors to contribute without delay.”
The open-heart surgery will effectively heal her little heart. By contributing, you can improve her quality of life and overall health, providing her with a more active lifestyle.
Let’s join hands to save Romaisa’s life.

Romaisa Hassan's Story
Romaisa Hassan, a 1-year-old girl from Dera Ghazi Khan, had been suffering from shortness of breath and chest discomfort since birth. Her inability to gain healthy weight and delays in reaching developmental milestones worried her parents deeply. Even simple activities left her fatigued and breathless. Concerned about her condition, her parents received medical advice.
After performing diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed Romaisa with Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) and Right Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction (RVOTO). To treat the defects in her heart, the doctor advised open-heart surgery for total correction. However, its surgical cost was overwhelming for Romaisa’s family.
Romaisa lived in a small brick house with her five family members. Her father was unemployed and her grandfather was a daily wager and earned just PKR 30,000 per month. With this meager monthly income, managing the utility bills and living expenses was challenging for them. Affording the cost of open-heart surgery was far beyond their financial capacity. Desperate to save their daughter, Romaisa’s parents reached out to Transparent Hands for assistance. Moved by their plight, we registered Romaisa’s case.
On November 17, 2024, Romaisa was admitted to the Ittefaq Hospital in Lahore. On November 19, 2024, Dr. Asim Khan performed her open-heart surgery for total correction, repairing the defects and ensuring proper blood flow. Following the successful procedure, Romaisa remained under observation for five days, receiving post-operative care. On November 24, 2024, she was discharged in stable condition.
Romaisa’s parents were overwhelmed with gratitude and they said:
“We lived in constant fear of losing her, but now she is recovering well. This surgery has given her a new chance at life, and we are thankful to you for making it possible.”
Romaisa is now healing. Her parents are happy to see her gaining strength, achieving milestones, and showing the energy of a healthy child. This change was made possible by your generous support. Romaisa’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to you and the Pakistan Children's Heart Foundation for giving her a brighter and healthier future. You have truly made a difference in her life.
