Let’s Help Abid Mehmood Walk Again
Abid Mehmood's Story
Meet Abid Mehmood, a 33-year-old man from Okara, who suffers from extreme discomfort in his hip and is unable to walk without support. This condition developed eight years ago when he fell from the stairs and his left hip was severely damaged and injured. Initially, he received symptomatic treatment. Later, he went to an orthopedic surgeon for consultation who advised an X-ray and some tests. After a thorough evaluation, he was diagnosed with a left hip arthropathy. The condition causes intense pain and stiffness, making tasks like standing, walking, and bending extremely challenging.
The doctor has advised Total Hip Replacement surgery to restore his mobility and independence. However, his family is facing financial hardships and cannot afford it.
Abid’s hip joint condition has taken away his ability to provide for his family. Due to extreme pain, he cannot even carry out his routine tasks and needs assistance every day.
Abid lives in a two-marla brick house with his five family members. His brother, the sole breadwinner in the family, is the Imam of a Mosque. He earns PKR 40,000 monthly, which just covers the family’s basic needs. With the strain of utility bills and groceries, the family’s financial situation is stretched thin. In such a situation, they cannot afford the cost of the surgery.
Abid expressed his heartfelt plea as follows:
“Every day I hope that someone will step forward to support me. I wish to regain my mobility and live an independent life. I need to provide for my family. I don’t have enough resources to pay for the life-changing surgery. Please help me overcome my pain.”
Transparent Hands stepped in to support Abid Mehmood. The hip replacement surgery will allow him to regain his ability to move and engage in physical activities.
Abid’s future depends upon this surgery. Without it, his condition will not improve, leaving him in a state of persistent pain and disability. Your donation could be the key to giving Abid a new and healthy life.
