Let’s Relieve Zafar’s Knee Pain

Zafar Ul Haq's Story
Zafar Ul Haq, a 60-year-old man from Lower Dir, has been experiencing knee pain for many years. Prolonged standing, walking, and sitting gives him extreme pain and discomfort, making him dependent on others for performing routine tasks. Moreover, his condition has taken away his ability to provide for his family. Zafar went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing an X-ray and some medical tests, the doctor diagnosed him with bilateral knee osteoarthritis. Zafar’s left knee is more symptomatic. Therefore, the doctor advised total knee replacement surgery for the left knee. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is overwhelming for him.
Without knee replacement surgery, Zafar’s condition will only worsen. He may have a permanent loss of movement at the knee joint, and become unable to stand, sit, and walk. Eventually, he may be bound to a wheelchair. Surgery is Zafar’s only hope to reclaim his independence, but his financial situation makes this a distant dream.
Zafar lives in a modest house with his six children. Among these, four are young and studying and his two sons work as daily wage laborers. They make PKR 25,000 per month, which is insufficient to cover even their household expenses. They barely have enough to pay PKR 4,000 for utility bills and for educational expenses which amount to PKR 4,000 per month. The financial strain of the surgery is an additional burden for Zafar’s family as they barely make ends meet. During this difficult time, Zafar contacted Transparent Hands and asked us for help.
“I just want to walk again without pain, be able to work, and live with dignity,” Zafar said with teary eyes. “This surgery isn’t just about relieving pain; it’s also about giving my family hope for a better future. Kindly help me as I can’t pay for this expensive surgery.”
Zafar is hoping for a better future. This surgery is necessary for him to regain his strength and independence. We need your contributions to give Zafar a happy and healthy life.
Let’s join hands and make a real difference in Zafar’s life.

Zafar Ul Haq's Story
Zafar Ul Haq, a 60-year-old resident of Lower Dir, was suffering from intense knee pain and discomfort. The pain in his left knee was particularly severe, making it nearly impossible for him to stand, walk, or perform daily tasks without assistance. This condition not only affected his mobility but also took away his ability to support his family. To find relief, Zafar consulted a local doctor who conducted an X-ray and diagnosed him with advanced osteoarthritis. The doctor recommended a total knee replacement surgery for his left knee. However, the high cost of the surgery was far beyond Zafar's means.
Zafar lived in a modest home with his six children. Zafar depended on his two sons, who worked as daily wage laborers, earning a combined income of just PKR 25,000 per month. This meager amount barely covered their household expenses, let alone the cost of the surgery. Over time, Zafar’s condition continued to worsen. During this time of need, Zafar turned to Transparent Hands and asked for assistance. After learning about his situation, we registered his case.
On November 29, 2024, Zafar was admitted to Zia Darman Hospital in Mardan. The surgery took place on November 30, 2024. Dr. Aimen Zia performed the knee replacement surgery successfully. After receiving essential post-operative care, Zafar was discharged in satisfactory condition on December 2, 2024.
Zafar’s surgery was a turning point in his life. After years of suffering, he is now regaining his mobility and independence. Expressing his gratitude, Zafar said: “I had lost hope of living a pain-free life, but your support has given me a new chance. I can now stand on my own feet and support my family again. Thank you for this life-changing gift.”
Zafar now looks forward to walking without pain, resuming his responsibilities, and creating a better future for his children. His family is overwhelmed with gratitude, as they see him recovering and returning to normal life. The surgery has not only alleviated his pain but has also restored hope and joy to his family.
