Let’s Save Memona’s Life with Heart Surgery

Memona Maryam's Story
Memona Maryam, a 14-year-old girl from Jhang, has been experiencing shortness of breath and chest discomfort since birth. Even simple activities, like walking a short distance or carrying out her routine tasks, leave her gasping for air. With time, her symptoms worsened and she started to experience cyanosis (bluish skin discoloration). Concerned about her worsening condition, her parents took her for a medical evaluation. After performing a series of medical tests, the doctor diagnosed her with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). It is characterized by four specific heart abnormalities that affect the normal flow of blood. The only way to save her life is through angiography and open-heart surgery for total correction. Unfortunately, her family can’t afford to pay for her surgery.
Without this surgery, her heart will continue to struggle, and her breathing will become more difficult. Her illness may lead to severe complications and Memona will not be able to overcome the disease.
Memona lives in a small home with her parents and four siblings. Her father runs a grocery shop and earns PKR 60,000 per month, which barely covers the family’s basic needs. They pay PKR 3000 for utility bills and PKR 10,000 for their children’s school fees, leaving them with little to save for the surgical procedure. With eight family members depending on a single income, they are struggling to survive. Due to their financial hardships, they are unable to bear the cost of the expensive heart surgery. During this time of need, her parents have turned to Transparent Hands for help.
With tears in her eyes, Memona’s mother said:
“I watch my daughter struggle every day, and fight for breath. I just want to see her live a normal life, to laugh without gasping for air, and to walk without stopping every few steps. Please, help us save Memona. Your support is the only hope I have.”
Memona dreams of a life where she can breathe freely, play with her siblings, and become a healthy young woman. Your generosity can turn this dream into reality. Come forward and bring hope and healing to Memona.

Memona Maryam's Story
Memona Maryam, a 14-year-old girl from Jhang, was suffering from persistent shortness of breath and chest discomfort that worsened over time. Even simple activities like walking short distances or helping with daily chores left her gasping for air. Eventually, her lips and skin began turning blue. Her family took her to a hospital for a detailed medical evaluation. After undergoing a series of diagnostic tests, Memona was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), a complex congenital heart condition involving four structural heart abnormalities. To correct her condition, the doctor recommended angiography and open-heart surgery for total correction. However, the cost of such a procedure was far beyond what her family could afford.
Memona lives in a small home with her parents and four siblings. Her father runs a modest grocery shop and earns around PKR 60,000 per month. With this income, they struggled to cover their utility bills, educational and food expenses. With eight family members relying on a single income, saving for an expensive heart surgery was impossible. During this time of need, Memona’s parents reached out to Transparent Hands for assistance. Recognizing the gravity of her situation, we swiftly registered her case.
On April 29, 2025, Memona was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital in Lahore. On April 30, 2025, her heart surgery was successfully performed by Dr. Asim Khan. Following a smooth recovery and necessary post-operative care, Memona was discharged on May 7, 2025.
With a heart full of gratitude, Memona’s parents said:
“We feared for her life every day. She couldn’t breathe properly or live like other children. Your support has given her a new beginning, and we can finally see her smile without pain. Thanks for being there for us.”
Memona’s life is now full of new possibilities. She can breathe easily, move without fatigue, and look forward to a healthier future.
