Muhammad Zohan Ajmal's Story
Muhammad Zohan Ajmal, a 3-year-old boy from Layyah, is facing immense challenges due to his heart illness. Since birth, he has been suffering from breathlessness and chest discomfort, which affect every task he performs. Whenever he plays with his friends or engages in any other physical activity, such as climbing stairs, he struggles to catch his breath, and his skin and lips turn blue. Upon noticing his condition, his parents took him to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing a series of tests and examinations, the doctor diagnosed Zohan with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). It involves four heart abnormalities that disrupt the flow of blood in his body.
To correct his heart defects, the doctor has advised angiography and open-heart surgery for total correction. However, the cost of the surgery is beyond his family’s means.
Not undergoing surgery will lead to the deterioration of the disease. It may cause severe breathing difficulties and heart failure. Therefore, he must receive timely surgical intervention.
Zohan lives in a modest home with his two family members. His father, the sole breadwinner in the family, works as a daily wage laborer and makes just PKR 18,000 per month. A significant portion of his income goes towards their utility bills of PKR 1500 in addition to their food and living expenses. After covering these necessities, they are left with nothing to save for any treatment. They can’t afford the costly heart surgery due to their financial constraints. Zohan’s father expressed his plea as follows:
“I work hard as a laborer, but my income covers our basic needs only. Zohan’s condition is worsening day by day, and I can’t do anything but watch him suffer. His heart defects need correction, and you can help him undergo the much-needed surgery. Kindly support Zohan’s heart surgery.”
