Mehnaz Parveen's Story

Mehnaz Parveen, a 58-year-old woman from Hyderabad, has been battling with persistent pain in the right upper part of her abdomen for the past three years. Along with this pain, she frequently experiences nausea and vomiting, which have made even simple daily activities a struggle. Concerned about her worsening condition, her family took her to a nearby hospital. After a detailed examination and running some tests, the doctor diagnosed her with Cholelithiasis, a condition in which hard stones form in the gallbladder. To ease her pain and discomfort, the doctor has advised her to undergo a Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy. 

Without this surgery, Mehnaz’s condition will worsen due to poor dietary intake. Moreover, continued intake of medicines may disturb her stomach, and she may develop life-threatening complications.

Mehnaz’s circumstances make her situation even more heartbreaking. She is a widow and has no children. She currently lives at her niece’s home. They live together in a rented house, paying PKR 15,000 per month, with utility bills of PKR 3,000. Her niece’s husband works hard as a laborer to support their household. However, his income barely covers their basic expenses, leaving no room to pay for the cost of Mehnaz’s necessary surgery.
