Muhammad Ahmad Ali's Story

Muhammad Ahmad Ali, aged eleven, a resident of Lahore suffers from Inguinal Hernia on the left side. An Inguinal Hernia occurs when tissue, such as a part of the intestine, protrudes through a weak spot in the abdominal muscles. The said bulge can be painful while coughing, bending over or lifting heavy objects. Though Inguinal Hernia is not necessarily dangerous, it requires due treatment as it may however, lead to life-threatening complications. Most likely Inguinal Hernia repair, that is a common surgical procedure termed, Herniotomy, is advised by the doctors. Muhammad Ahmad Ali is also expected to undergo Herniotomy, but financial constraint is a huge hurdle in Muhammad Ahmad Ali’s way to a healthy life. Herniotomy is a common surgical procedure, carried out either under general anaesthesia (asleep), or spinal anaesthesia (lower half ‘numb’). A small incision is made in the groin on the side of the hernia after which the hernia sac is identified and separated from the vas, and blood vessels to other organs in the periphery. Any hernia contents are pushed back to where they actually belong in the human body. Muhammad Ahmad Ali’s father shares his distress with respect to failure of provision of medical assistance to his son in the following words:

“I am a rickshaw driver. I earn PKR. 15,000 per month. For the past three months I have seen my son churning in pain. I have circled back and forth to numerous hospitals. After a recent examination, the doctor advised my son to have an operation. I am living in my father’s house with my mother, wife and three children. I have to provide for them and in these circumstances I am failing to produce money for the surgical procedure. Visit to Transparent Hands has shown me a ray of hope. I hope to see my son enjoying his childhood like any other healthy child.”

Luckily, now that Muhammad Ahmad Ali and his family have been connected with Transparent Hands, you can make this procedure possible. Generously, Donate for Muhammad Ahmad Ali’s Herniotomy, and assist him in cherishing his childhood.
