Meet Ilham Gulalai, a 7-year-old girl from Karachi, who has been suffering from painful throat issues for the past three years. She frequently complains of a sensation of a lump in her throat and experiences pain every time she swallows food or water. These symptoms have not only affected her ability to eat properly but also her ability to focus in school and enjoy time with her siblings. Worried about her condition, her parents took her to a nearby hospital for a proper medical check-up. After evaluation, the doctor diagnosed her with Chronic Tonsillitis, a long-term inflammation of the tonsils. The only effective solution to her condition is a Tonsillectomy, a surgical procedure to remove the inflamed tonsils and bring her lasting relief.

Unfortunately, Ilham’s family is struggling to make ends meet and cannot afford the cost of surgery. Her father works at a garment factory, earning a monthly income of PKR 35,000.
