Saira Mumtaz's Story

Saira Mumtaz, a 9-year-old girl from Multan, has been suffering due to poor vision. As her eyesight deteriorates, she finds it increasingly hard to concentrate and perform routine activities. Her parents took her to the doctor, who performed a thorough examination and diagnosed her with a cataract in her right eye. The condition may lead to further deterioration of her eyesight and adversely affect her quality of life. The doctor recommended Lense matter aspiration (LMA) with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation as the most effective treatment to restore her vision. However, Saira’s family cannot afford the expenses required to undergo the recommended surgery.

Without surgery, Saira’s vision loss will continue and may lead to complete blindness. That will completely take away Sara’s independence and increase her family’s challenges. A timely intervention is necessary to prevent the deterioration of her condition and to preserve her quality of life.

Saira and her family live in a modest house. Her father, Muhammad Mumtaz, is a laborer who earns only PKR 15,000 monthly. He has to spend PKR 3000 on educational expenses and PKR 2000 on utility bills. The income is insufficient to cover even their basic expenses. Thus, he cannot support Saira’s surgery.

Saira’s family says:

“With weakened eyesight, her life has become more difficult. The world is getting more and more blurred for her. We’re afraid she will stop seeing things altogether. To regain her vision and return to a normal life, she needs surgery. Please help her recover.”

Your donations can truly make a difference in Saira’s life. Every little contribution brings her closer to a more hopeful future. Let’s join hands to ensure that Saira is pulled out of the shadows and lives a normal life with her family again.

Saira Mumtaz's Story

Saira Mumtaz, a 9-year-old girl from Multan, was suffering from blurry and dim vision. Over time, her vision became so poor that even simple tasks grew increasingly difficult. Her parents became deeply concerned when they noticed how much her daily life was being affected. They took her to a local hospital. After a comprehensive examination, the doctor diagnosed Saira with a cataract in her right eye. The doctor explained that without timely treatment, her condition could worsen, leading to more serious vision loss. To help her regain clear sight, the doctor advised Lens Matter Aspiration (LMA) along with Intraocular Lens (IOL) implantation. However, her family was unable to pay for her surgery.

Saira lived in a humble home with her family. Her father, Muhammad Mumtaz, worked as a laborer and earned just PKR 15,000 per month. Out of this limited income, he spent around PKR 3000 on the educational needs of his children and PKR 2000 on utility bills. The remaining amount was barely enough to provide food and other essentials for the family. With so many responsibilities and such limited resources, affording the cost of Saira’s surgery seemed impossible. When all hopes seemed to fade, Saira’s parents turned to Transparent Hands for help. We swiftly registered her case and assured the family that their daughter would receive the treatment.

On January 29, 2025, Saira was admitted to Bakhtawar Amin Memorial Teaching Hospital in Multan. Dr. Hassan successfully performed the LMA + IOL surgery. After receiving post-operative care, she was discharged in stable condition on January 30, 2025.

Overwhelmed with gratitude, her father said: “It broke my heart to see my daughter suffer like that. Today, she can see clearly again, and it’s all because of your support. Thank you for giving her a brighter future.”

Saira’s parents are overjoyed to see her smiling again, and their hearts are filled with hope for her future. Your generous contributions have not only restored Saira’s sight but has also brought happiness and relief to her entire family. You’ve made a lasting impact on her life, and for that, they will always be thankful.
