Safdar Ali's Story

Before you dive into Ali’s story, we want to let you know that Safdar Ali is in a lot of pain right now. His financial situation is the only hurdle standing between him and the treatment he needs. Therefore, we urge you to please donate for Safdar Ali’s Knee Surgery.

Safdar Ali, aged 38 years, a resident of Hafizabad had a fall while playing in the ground five years back. Since then, he has been suffering from swelling and pain in his knees. He went to the doctor for his check up and after some x-rays, the doctor diagnosed him with advanced Osteoarthritis in the left knee. Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease in which the cartilage between joints begins to break down and the surfaces of the joint become roughened, thus creating friction. As a result, the movement becomes painful, and the joint becomes stiff. Due to this condition, his pain has become unbearable for him.

To treat this, the Orthopedic surgeon has advised Safdar Ali to undergo a knee Arthrodesis. Knee arthrodesis, also known as knee fusion, is a surgery that connects the thigh bone to the shin bone. While knee Arthrodesis was widely used in the past, it is only used now as a last resort option if knee replacement has failed or is not an option. Now, he needs to undergo left knee Arthrodesis. While knee arthrodesis seems like an easy solution to all of Safdar’s problems, it is certainly not an accessible solution. Safdar Ali cannot afford the hefty cost of this surgery.

Due to his deteriorating health, he is not able to work. Thus, he is financially dependent on his father, who hardly earns PKR. 15,000 per month. With rent and a family of 5 members to feed, he is not able to afford the hefty cost of his surgery.

“I didn’t know that just a random fall during playing would cost me this much. I spent the last five years in pain while walking or running. In these circumstances, working was not an option for me. I have all my hopes in Transparent Hands. I know they will help me” –Safdar Ali.

After a lot of distress, Safdar Ali has requested Transparent Hands for help. We have assured him that we would arrange his surgery as soon as possible. Now, all we need is your help. Donate for Safdar Ali’s Knee Surgery as much as you can.
