Saima Desperately Needs Treatment for Breast Cancer

Saima Tariq's Story

Saima Tariq, a 53-year-old woman from Lahore, has been experiencing pain due to a lump in her left breast for six months. Saima received symptomatic treatment, but her lump increased day by day. Due to her illness, she is unable to fulfill her responsibilities as a mother and wife. Concerned about her condition, she visited a doctor at a local hospital. After performing a comprehensive examination and tests, the doctor diagnosed Saima with left-sided breast cancer. Her doctor has advised Neo-adjuvant chemotherapy of eight cycles followed by surgery.

If Saima does not receive treatment for breast cancer, the cancer will progress. It may potentially lead to the spread of cancer cells (metastasis) to other parts of the body, and become fatal. It may enter an irreversible stage of disease progression.

Saima lives in a modest home with her joint family of eight members. Her son, the sole breadwinner in the family, is an employee at a private company. His meager income barely covers their utility bills in addition to the food and educational expenses. They face financial hardships and the cost of her treatment is beyond their financial means.
