Save Abdul Hadi’s Little Heart

Abdul Hadi's Story
Abdul Hadi, a 3-year-old boy from Sargodha, has been battling a severe heart condition since birth. For the past three years, he has been struggling with shortness of breath, chest pain, and debilitating fatigue.
After a series of diagnostic tests and medical evaluations, the doctors diagnosed Abdul Hadi with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) – a complex congenital heart defect that includes a small left ventricle (LV) and pulmonary stenosis (PS). In 2022, Abdul underwent his first surgery, a left Blalock-Taussig shunt (BTS), in an attempt to alleviate his symptoms and improve his quality of life.
As he returned for a follow-up appointment, the doctors have now advised him to undergo an angiography and an open-heart surgery to perform a central pulmonary (CP) shunt. This critical procedure is essential to address the underlying cardiac issues and give him the best chance of leading a healthier life.
Tragically, Abdul Hadi’s family is facing immense financial challenges that threaten to jeopardize his access to the necessary medical care. His father, a drug addict, is unable to contribute to the family’s finances, while his mother works as a housemaid, earning a meager PKR 6,000 per month. The family is entirely dependent on the support of Abdul’s aunt and other relatives, as there are no other reliable sources of income.
Abdul’s mother expressed her anguish, “My child’s life hangs in the balance, and I am powerless to provide him with the treatment he so desperately needs. I long for the day when I can see his bright smile and watch him play without the burden of this debilitating condition.”
Time is of the essence, and Abdul Hadi’s family desperately needs assistance. Your generous contributions, no matter the amount, can make a profound difference in this young boy’s life. By coming together as a community, we can alleviate the financial burden and ensure that Abdul receives the life-saving surgery he requires to overcome his heart condition and reclaim his childhood.

Abdul Hadi's Story
Abdul Hadi, a 3-year-old boy from Sargodha, had been experiencing breathlessness, fatigue, and chest discomfort since birth. His skin used to turn blue while feeding or crying - an alarming sign that his body was not getting enough oxygen. His parents took him to a nearby hospital and consulted a doctor, who ran some lab tests and diagnosed Abdul Hadi with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). His first surgery for a left Blalock-Taussig Shunt (BTS) was done in 2022. On a follow-up appointment, his doctor advised him to undergo an angiography and open-heart surgery for a central pulmonary (CP) shunt.
Abdul Hadi was unable to gain weight and any mild to moderate physical activity left him gasping for air. He lived in a one-room mud house with his parents. His father was unemployed. His mother was a housemaid and earned just PKR 6000 per month. They were surviving in extreme poverty and affording to pay for Abdul Hadi’s costly surgery was simply impossible for them. That’s when Transparent Hands stepped in to help him. The generosity of our donors enabled us to arrange surgery for Abdul Hadi at one of our panel hospitals.
On 7th August 2024, Abdul Hadi was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital in Lahore. He received pre-operative care and his surgery was scheduled for 12th August 2024. Dr. Asim Khan skillfully performed his open-heart surgery for the central pulmonary (CP) shunt. Abdul Hadi recovered and was discharged in satisfactory condition on 16th August 2024.
Abdul Hadi’s mother was overwhelmed with happiness and she said:
“It’s unbelievable to see my son breathing normally. I was praying day and night for a miracle and it’s finally happened. You helped me get rid of my worries and I am extremely thankful for it. You have given my son a second chance at life.”
Through successful heart surgery, Abdul Hadi now has a struggle-free life. His health outcomes have improved and he can play and run like other kids of his age. Abdul Hadi’s family is immensely grateful to you and the Pakistan Children’s Heart Foundation for making an impact on his life.
