Save Aqsa’s Life With Cardiac Surgery

Aqsa Waseem, a 5-year-old girl from Lahore, has been living with a serious heart condition since birth. She experiences frequent shortness of breath and chest discomfort that makes it difficult for her to participate in everyday activities. Even simple actions like walking or playing with her siblings leave her breathless and fatigued. Recently, her parents took her to a doctor for a detailed evaluation. After undergoing diagnostic tests, Aqsa was diagnosed with Tricuspid Atresia, Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), Small Right Ventricle (RV), and Pulmonary Stenosis (PS). These are a combination of complex congenital heart defects that prevent normal blood flow and oxygen delivery to her body. The doctor has recommended open-heart surgery – CP Shunt to improve her condition and provide her with a better quality of life.

Without this surgery, Aqsa’s health will continue to decline. Her oxygen levels will remain dangerously low, and she may experience further complications such as heart failure, extreme fatigue, and life-threatening cardiac events.

Aqsa lives in a small rented house in Lahore with her parents and three siblings. Her father works as a daily wage laborer and earns only PKR 36,000 per month. The family spends PKR 7,000 on house rent, PKR 4,000 on utility bills, and PKR 1,500 on educational expenses, leaving them with little to cover any medical costs. Due to these financial constraints, they are unable to afford the cost of Aqsa’s life-saving heart surgery.

Aqsa’s mother said in despair:

“It hurts to see my daughter gasping for air when she plays or climbs stairs. I want her to grow up healthy and happy, but her surgery costs more than what we can afford. I humbly request you to provide Aqsa with this life-saving heart surgery.”
