Shamim Awaits Total Hip Replacement Surgery

Shamim Mughal's Story
Shamim Mughal, a 63-year-old widow from Hyderabad, has been experiencing unbearable pain in her right hip for the past two years. She finds it extremely difficult to walk or even stand without support. What started as mild discomfort has now progressed into persistent pain that affects her daily life and limits her mobility. After several visits to local clinics and hospitals, Shamim was referred to a specialist for a thorough examination. Following diagnostic imaging and evaluation, the doctor diagnosed her with Avascular Necrosis (AVN) of the right hip joint. It is a condition where bone tissue’s death occurs due to a lack of blood supply. The only effective treatment for her condition is a right-sided Total Hip Replacement (THR). However, her family can’t afford her surgery.
If Shamim does not undergo this surgery soon, her condition will continue to worsen. She may face complete joint collapse and immobility. In her old age, such physical limitations also increase the risk of falls and associated injuries.
Shamim is a widow and lives with her son and five other family members. Her son works as a laborer and earns just PKR 15,000 per month. This modest income is barely enough to cover their household needs, including utility bills and food expenses. Due to their financial constraints, affording the cost of a major orthopedic surgery is far beyond their means. During this difficult time, Shamim contacted Transparent Hands and asked for help.
Shamim said with teary eyes:
“I want to be able to walk again without depending on anyone. At this old age, I just want to live the remaining years of my life in comfort. My son alone cannot manage the cost of this surgery. I request you to help me.”
Shamim’s hope for a pain-free life lies in your hands. Your kind contributions can help her undergo the critical surgery.
Let’s stand together to ease her pain and help her walk again without pain.
