Shumaila Muslim's Story

Shumaila Muslim, a 21-year-old woman from Karachi, is currently over 33 weeks pregnant. She has a history of one previous C-section and one miscarriage. Recently, she visited a gynecologist at a local hospital. After evaluating her medical history and current condition, the doctor recommended an elective C-section to ensure a safe delivery. However, the cost of the surgery is far beyond Shumaila’s financial reach.

If Shumaila does not undergo this necessary C-section, she may face serious complications. Given her history, a normal delivery may result in uterine rupture, heavy bleeding, or fetal distress. It can endanger both Shumaila and her baby’s lives.

Shumaila’s circumstances add to her worries. Her husband left her and married someone else, leaving her alone to manage everything on her own. Now, she lives in a modest rented house with her mother and seven other family members. Their monthly rent is PKR 6,500, which is covered by her brother. He works hard to support the household with an income of just PKR 22,000 a month. They also have to pay utility bills and cover other living costs. With such limited means, affording Shumaila’s C-section is impossible for them.

Adding to her worries, Shumaila’s little son is also unwell. She dreams of safely bringing her new baby into this world but finds herself trapped by her financial limitations.

Shumaila shared her feelings as follows

“I never imagined being in such a helpless situation. My husband left us, and now I rely entirely on my brother. I fear for my unborn baby’s life. Please help me undergo this C-section so I can welcome my child safely into this world.”

Shumaila desperately needs your support. By contributing to her surgery, you can help this young mother embrace motherhood again without fear.
