Stand by Tuba for a Safe and Healthy Childbirth

Tuba Shahzad's Story

Tuba Shahzad, a 26-year-old woman from Karachi, is currently pregnant with her third child. Due to her previous history of two C-sections for childbirth, she knew the risks involved. Concerned about her condition, she went to a local hospital and consulted a gynecologist. After a comprehensive examination and considering her medical history, the doctor advised her to undergo another C-section. Unfortunately, her family can’t afford her C-section.

This C-section is necessary to save both Tuba’s life and that of her baby. Not undergoing the C-section may lead to various complications such as uterine rupture, fetal distress, and excessive bleeding.

Tuba lives in a small rented home with her husband and two children. Her husband, the sole breadwinner in the family, is a daily wage laborer and makes just PKR 32,000 per month. A significant portion of his income goes towards their house rent, amounting to PKR 7000, utility bills of PKR 3000, as well as their food expenses. An overwhelming debt of PKR 100,000 further adds to their hardships. They are already struggling to save money to repay this loan. Now, with Tuba’s pregnancy progressing, they are unable to arrange the money needed for her delivery. Tuba’s husband works to the point of exhaustion, but he can’t pay for his wife’s C-section.

During this moment of despair, they have turned to Transparent Hands and asked for help.  Tuba expressed her plea as follows:

“As a mother, I worry day and night about my baby’s safety. A natural birth isn’t a safe option for me, and this C-section is simply beyond our means. Your support is the only hope I have left. I request you to contribute generously.”
